ENTRY (NORTH) ELEVATION

Designed in the Spring of 1992, the intention was to provide a hillside passive-solar view home with little visual impact to the street, a minimalized statement for the garages, and to take full advantage of views of the Rocky Mountains and Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, Arrowhead Ski Resorts to the south (seen in the background, left to right).

A very meticulous and conscientious builder, construction required Vedder more than three years to complete, culminating in the Fall of 1996 with a sale at $480,000. Always spearheading the marketplace in quality of design and construction, the sale established another record-setting value of $185/sq.ft.

SOUTH ELEVATION

Southern exposure expresses intricately-articulated interior spaces which creates a sheltered alcove for the flying sundeck.

Exterior finish materials were selected with the utmost concern for carefree living and minimum maintenance.

Colors were selected to fit comfortably into the existing environment. From a distance in daylight during the summer months, the building almost seems to disappear into the hillside. At night the interior lighting seen through the expansive windows give the appearance of a distant lantern in the wilderness, set against the empty sky .
